I’ve been involved with startups through the show and through work for the past few years, so it was time to throw my hat into the ring. Put my money where my mouth was so to speak.
I got an email today, very official looking and sounding. It was about one of my domain names. I have tons. It said that if I don’t register with them they can’t be held liable if someone screws with my site or trademark.
I almost freaked out for a second. It seemed real? What did i do? I googled it and found this:
If you ever get an email you’re not sure about, google a block of text from it, or the name of the company, or the email address it came from. If its a scam, other people will write about it, like in this case.
So beware of this scam. And never click a link, reply, call a #, enter information, or do anything other than check more into it on the web if you’re not sure!
Some of the crew from The Best Damn Tech Show, Period attended the opening night of Philadelphia’s Beer Week as members of the press crew. While the initial dinner was held at Monks Cafe (and was apparently awesome according to Schmidt and Plante), this video includes footage taken from Nodding Head, a favorite of Duchess Plante and some damn fine beers to boot.
As you may have noticed, us folks here at the tech show are huge fans of beer and we are happy to invite everyone to a celebration of Philadelphia’s amazing beer culture and tradition. Over the next ten days, Philly Beer Week will showcase many of the fine Philadelphia pubs and brewers.
“From Day One, when William Penn started work on his own brewery in 1682, Philadelphia has been a great beer-drinking city. Today, the local scene is better than any time in its history. Fresh craft beer… authentic taverns… diverse styles… exotic imports… Belgian-style cafes… and a sudsy tradition unlike any other in America.”
You can find a schedule of events here. We’ll do our best to make it out to as many of these as possible, so come on out and have a few with us.
