“It’s a royal piece of shit” was my first reaction when my buddy Ben Gold “created a profile” aka “invited me” to Yahoo’s new fangled “Social Network”, “Mash”.
Notice all of the quotes? That’s called hesitation. Why? Because who doesn’t have a social network these days. I’ve seen quality sites like Mindsay get passed over so big ass companies can create vanilla versions of MySpace.
MySpace is garbage, but everyone uses it. Which makes it a “valid social network”. Facebook is teh n3w h0t, but I can’t get used to using it every single day. Twitter has made me comfy, Pownce does what Twitter can’t do.
So I ask you Yahoo, why should I pay attention to Mash? Tell me. Seriously. If you guys are worth anything you’re checking alerts anytime someone posts about one of your products.
I know we’re nobodies, but guess what, I don’t care. We’re nobodies who use your shit. So reply to this post, email me at drdrew (at) gmail.com and lets have a discussion on why Mash should get my business.
Big companies create new things thinking people will drink the kool aid and jump right on board. Screw that, my time is worth money and just because something is free and from someone as reputable (har har) as Yahoo, doesn’t mean I’m going to spend my time evangelizing it and wasting my friends time joining.
Step up, prove me wrong. Lets talk Yahoo. I hate you, and I don’t like hating. Lets work out our differences.
Or ignore me. I could care less. It’s your money.
Love,
Drew
